This summer, I visited Dr. Harnois for dental work. During my initial consultation, all my questions were answered thoroughly, making me feel comfortable proceeding with the necessary work. After the consult, I reached out to Dr. Harnois' office manager, Donna, with additional questions, including a personal health matter affecting my husband and me. Donna spoke with Dr. Harnois, relayed his responses, and we scheduled the required appointments. The first visit involved having teeth pulled. The quality of work was great, and both Dr. Harnois and his hygienist took their time, making it a relatively painless process. A few hours after leaving his office, I received a text from Dr. Harnois' personal cell phone. I had only provided my number to his front desk. His text was a check-in about my recovery which I responded to. However, several hours later, I received unprompted inappropriate texts from him that made me feel uncomfortable. This put me in a difficult position: should I walk around with incomplete dental work while finding a new dentist, or continue the treatment and avoid causing a bigger issue? After a day, I confronted Dr. Harnois about how uncomfortable his texts made me. To his credit, he took full responsibility, apologized profusely, and promised utmost professionalism from him and his staff moving forward. Believing his sincerity and feeling self conscious that I was now missing teeth, I decided to continue the treatment. Before my next visit, an unexpected serious event forced me to reschedule my appointments for a month later. I sent Dr. Harnois proof of this event in good faith. He assured me Donna would contact me to reschedule. However, when I spoke with Donna, I did not feel I was met with the promised professionalism. She questioned why I couldn’t borrow money to stick to the original schedule and questioned if I was comfortable walking around with holes in my mouth. After the text messages and insensitive questioning, I canceled all future appointments and will not be returning to this office.
