Whatever you do, please find another dentist!!!! Before I even showed up I wasn’t happy with whoever called me from this facility telling me on the phone that we could only bring me and my son because their waiting room is too small. She was a bit unprofessional and I should've known then. When I showed up this place was very hard to find. Once in the front desk guy was rude, he made me wait downstairs and fill out paperwork before having to go upstairs and wait again. The building is old and very outdated, the elevator is like something out of a 40’s movie. The waiting room in the dentist office is very small and chaotic is the best way to describe it between all the people in and out and other staff using the restroom. Then after waiting for a while we got called in and they tried to have us wait in a so called recovery room which was more like a dirty supply closet because a room wasn't ready yet. Once moved into a real room I also made a note that the room seemed dirty and there was barbed like wire all around the outside of the windows, and mind you it’s a brick building and we were on maybe the 4th floor. While in our appointment a lady in the room across from us was having some sort of medical emergency and hospital staff had to come transport her. Let me just preface this all by saying I felt uncomfortable the moment i stepped in the building. As I moved from room to room I felt more and more uneasy. I didn’t want to be there at all but we were running out of options so I pushed through against my better judgement. Finally the “doctor” showed up and I realized he was actually either an intern or an assistant. I wasn’t happy about it but figured I would see how it went. First he didn’t have clear knowledge of why we were there, didn’t know how many teeth were being pulled, didn’t know my son had asthma, misdiagnosed his infected tooth, and had to go back several times to “consult” with someone more senior than him on the shift to see if he could even do the work. He seemed like someone fresh out of highschool being told to go pull a tooth. He was a very sweet and kind man but it felt like he had no medical training whatsoever, and they were giving this man the ability to work on people. He did have a good attitude and I loved his honesty, but I wouldn't trust him working on anyone, especially a child. This made me doubt their entire facility. I sensed something funky going on here.My son needed anesthesia due to prior traumatic dentist experience and the guy told me he could just get it done the normal way. After explaining to him why we needed anesthesia (the whole reason we were referred here in the first place) he told me they don’t usually do that. After his second consultation with someone else on staff he came back and told me they couldn’t pull my son’s tooth because of his asthma and the risk. By then I had already made up my mind I didn’t feel it was safe for my son or even myself to get work done there. So in the end we waisted a lot of time and energy. My main concern for this practice is patient safety, and cleanliness. I do not trust this dentist facility at all. Some of the staff was very nice, but it doesn’t negate the very serious concerns. - Kaitlynn Cristello

Multiple reviews from individuals who sought dental care at this location describe significant negative experiences. These accounts raise concerns about various aspects of the facility and its services.

One detailed review highlights issues starting with the initial phone communication, followed by difficulties in locating the office within an older building with an outdated elevator. The waiting areas are described as small and chaotic. Furthermore, this patient reported being asked to wait in a space resembling a dirty supply closet and noted the exam room appeared unclean. The presence of what was described as barbed wire outside the windows on a higher floor also contributed to a feeling of unease.

This same reviewer expressed serious concerns about the dental care received. They stated that the dentist they saw appeared to be an intern or assistant with limited knowledge of their case, including the reason for the visit, the number of teeth needing extraction, and a pre-existing medical condition (asthma). The reviewer also alleged a misdiagnosis and frequent consultations with senior staff. Ultimately, the reviewer decided against proceeding with treatment due to a perceived lack of safety and competence.

Another review echoed negative sentiments, describing the experience as the worst encountered at a medical facility. This patient reported difficulty finding the entrance due to inadequate signage, receiving incorrect appointment information, and experiencing a significant wait time in the exam room. They also stated that the staff member who eventually saw them was unaware of the reason for their visit. This reviewer also mentioned feeling unsafe and described the equipment as old and dirty.

Based on this publicly available feedback, potential users of Hartford Hospital Dental Services should be aware of these reported negative experiences concerning communication, facility conditions, cleanliness, staff knowledge, and overall patient safety and care.
