I really appreciate how much Dr. Shults cares about his patients. I see it every single time I come. I always feel like he tries to give me the best tools for success for my teeth. He is the BEST! And I love his fun ocean office theme.

Absolute worst dentist we've ever encountered. I'm shocked by the good reviews. We went to Larry Shults when we first moved to Mesa 10 years ago. He was very rough with my children. My son was less than a year old and he forcefully shoved his mouth open and began to manually brush his teeth very hard. His gums began bleeding and he made a snide comment about gum health. Here's and idea, educate your patients rather than degrade them! I made the mistake of going back for a filling he said my daughter needed. He insisted that she should have the nitrous but of course it wasn't covered. My daughter had dental work in the past and did not need it. A good dentist can put a child at ease without gas. We proceeded with the work and not only did he not wait long enough for the local anesthetic to become effective. I question whether he even numbed her gums before injecting because she yelped "ouch, ouch" with each prick of the anesthetic needle. My daughter was in a lot of discomfort and he worked her into hysterics, then looked up at me and very condescendingly said, "you know if you'd paid for the nitrous, this wouldn't be happening." If I could have taken her out of the chair in that moment I would have but her tooth was already partially drilled out and I panicked. We never went back. If you love your child don't take him or her to this sadist. And yes, I am writing this review 10 years later because he deserves to have the truth about him known.
