Extremely Disappointed with Maywood Western Dental - Lack of Communication and Unprofessional BehaviorI had a very troubling experience at Maywood Western Dental with my daughter. We were initially there for a consultation, and everything seemed fine until we were told they would be taking pictures of my daughter’s teeth and then asked to wait in the lobby. I later found out they had started putting braces on her without any prior discussion or explanation. This was our first visit, and neither I nor my daughter was informed of what was going on until the procedure had already begun.They told me they could proceed with braces without even checking for cavities or performing a full evaluation. We were then scheduled for a general check-up, and when I informed them that my daughter’s bracket had fallen off, they reassured me that the orthodontist would take care of it that day.However, when I arrived, I was shocked to learn that in addition to fixing the bracket, they intended to add bottom braces and different spacers—completely without my consent or prior discussion. I had specifically made it clear that I wanted to be fully informed about anything being done to my daughter’s mouth, but when I expressed concern, the staff was dismissive and unprofessional. I was told by one assistant to leave the room, but I refused, as my daughter is a minor, and I had every right to know what was happening. When I tried to speak to the orthodontist directly, she seemed uninterested in addressing my concerns and actually told me that if I didn’t like how the office was run, I could go elsewhere. No apology, no attempt to explain, just an incredibly rude and dismissive response.I later spoke with the manager, who promised to follow up with me to help transfer to another location, but I never received a call back. To make matters worse, I was told it was fine for my daughter to leave with no rubber bands or wire in her braces, and now she’s dealing with scraping and discomfort.This lack of communication, transparency, and respect for parental consent is unacceptable. I would strongly caution anyone considering this practice, especially for minors. I’m extremely disappointed and frustrated with how everything was handled.
