If you can’t get to advocate Christ and HAVE to come here I get it but otherwise it is a BAD decision. If you MUST come here do not go alone. Put your health in better hands. I couldn’t breathe so I came into the ER. When a doctor finally saw me he said I was way “better than everyone was saying" and then asked if I wanted to remain at the hospital anyway. Like I was just lying about not being able to breathe and just needed somewhere to stay or something. Later another nurse laughed at me and said I didn’t have an infection it was just regular asthma. Literally laughed. I insisted I needed more care and was loudly wheezing so they admitted me. The first two days ppl wouldn’t tell me anything. It felt like solitary confinement. I asked who my doctor was and got different answers from different ppl. No one would tell me about my treatment plan despite me asking multiple times. I called my parents to see if I could get help figuring out what was going on. An hour before my parents came they were trying to discharge me and even arranging travel. When my parents came ppl actually started moving. They found out I DID have more than just asthma I had pneumonia and they were going to start treatment immediately. All of this was relayed to me from my parents. No staff member at any point told me I had pneumonia I assume out of embarrassment from their response to me previously and acting like I was a lying bum just looking for shelter. Mind you, I’m a well educated professional who is employed and resides in a house. I’m just black. This was just stereotyping at its finest.One time I rang the nurse and said I was having trouble breathing and needed my treatment that was due hours ago. Her response was “wait we’re in the middle of shift change.” Like girl….i don’t care ur about to get off I just told u I can’t breathe ???? You’ve beeen warned. Go to advocate Christ instead if u can make it there.
