What was described as a cavity that 'could wait a year' to treat during my routine dental cleaning three days earlier turned into a 3.5-hour traumatic procedure. Without my knowledge or consent, a dental hygienist performed filling work unsupervised while the dentist treated other patients and took a break in the back. This resulted in complications where my teeth became fused together, requiring complete redrilling. The dentist apologized profusely, saying 'this has never happened before.' The most alarming part was learning after the procedure that the drilling had left only 'two paper widths' of tooth structure near the root, putting me at high risk for needing a root canal. And the additional trauma from the extra drilling would likely cause more inflammation, increasing my risk further. These serious risks and potential complications were never discussed beforehand. While the dentist apologized repeatedly for what he called a 'terrible dental experience,' the damage was already done. I'm now facing weeks of potential pain and watching for signs of root death. On top of all of this, Dr. Lo does not schedule adequate time for procedures. While performing my procedure, he repeatedly left (at least five times) to see other patients for their semi-annual exams. You are left laying there with your jaw open waiting for him to come back to continue drilling. I would strongly encourage others to seek care elsewhere and to always ensure they receive full disclosure about procedures and who will be performing them."
