As an academic dental institution, the environment at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine involves both experienced faculty dentists and supervised student dentists providing care. This model aims to offer comprehensive treatment while training the next generation of dental professionals. The facility is associated with the NY Presbyterian Hospital.
The services offered likely encompass a range of general and specialized dental care, potentially including routine check-ups, cleanings, fillings, extractions, and more complex procedures such as oral surgery. However, based on the provided reviews, experiences can vary significantly.
Some users have reported positive experiences, highlighting the dedication and up-to-date knowledge of the student doctors, suggesting a patient-focused approach where learning and providing care are prioritized. These reviewers praise the thoroughness and commitment of the care received.
Conversely, other reviews express significant dissatisfaction. These accounts describe issues with treatment planning coordination, delays in procedures, and instances where approved treatments were ultimately not carried out. These negative experiences raise concerns about communication and the potential for prolonged discomfort and unresolved dental issues.
It is important for prospective patients to be aware that as a teaching institution, treatment processes may involve multiple stages of consultation and approval, potentially leading to longer wait times and the involvement of both students and faculty in their care. Individuals seeking treatment here should consider these factors when making their decisions.

Columbia University College of Dental Medicine Reviews
If it’s drill and fill, or yank and scram, probably four or five stars. I won’t know because I never got to “yank and scream", so I give it only one star. After more than nine weeks of pain, angst, and hope, I got to “oral surgery consultation”. After lengthy discussions between student and “others” a treatment plan was approved.Thirteen days later, I turned up to get my tooth extracted. After sitting more than two hours in the dentist chair, I was told that the student could not proceed with the procedure because her faculty refused to approve the treatment. So, after months of waiting, all I was left with was pain, more angst, and no hope. This is a training facility where the left hand has no idea what the right hand is doing, causing pain to the victim.I picked this place because of its association with the NY Presbyterian Hospital. What a painful mistake. It's like comparing heaven and hell.
Oct 22, 2024 · John CAmazeballs. I drive all the way from the far side of Queens to come here. The doctors are fantastic. I find the care at student and just recently Doctored places give the best care because they want to help people.A far cry from established Doctors who are seasoned where money is more important. And they have 1 ear for 6+ people an hour.We as humans forget that we are of service to others. And sometimes what you’re good at is for all people and not ONLY your pocket.I’m happy to have these young doctors who want to help people as well as get paid. And quite honestly their knowledge far surpasses and is quite honestly the most updated in what’s really going on in medicine. The Best.
Oct 08, 2024 · LisaHorrible experience, would not recommend. Seriously, go elsewhere for your ortho needs. This establishment is very disorganized and does not work with the patients regarding making appointments, communication and wait times or grace periods. If you arrive early, you are made to wait, sometimes long after your actual appointment time. If you arrive a few minutes late, you are warned about their late arrival policy ( more than 3x late your dentist has the right to refuse service to you for up to a year) although you basically sign a contract of pay at the very beginning. It is just really inconvenient for people who have a busy schedule especially if you are bringing your child from school (so that they don't miss school days) as these ortho appointments for something like braces are once a month. The only convenient thing is being able to pay online ahead of time (also what they charge for braces I have also been quoted at other regular dentists, not dental school) the check-in process is so ghetto and exhausting, there is always a line, sometimes to the elevator (about 5 ft or more from reception desk windows) there are about 4 windows for reception and it seems all of them are useless (redundant questions and NONE of them communicate or seemingly operate on the same system) the questions they ask for screening you before your appt each and every time are the same and will be repeated and if you did do something the last visit such as pay at the window please expect for them to 100% NOT find proof of it in their system. I cannot repeat enough how important it is that if you sign the payment contract with them PAY ONLINE and ahead of your visit. Also, most reception staff is rude. The ortho my child was assigned is rude and has no professional etiquette via texts. I really regret choosing this place to get my kids braces done. I am almost certain there are infinitely more qualified, organized, professional and probably even more affordable places in which you could have your ortho needs met.
